Our story

In 2020, Rich was diagnosed with stage 3 Nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL). A rare form of Hodgkin lymphoma, approximately 220 people are diagnosed with NLPHL in the UK every year. It is most common in people in their 30s to 50s and much more common in males than females, but scientists don’t know why. There is no known cause for most cases of NLPHL and there is no cure although treatment is available to manage it. Rich is actively monitored and, apart from a weakened immune system which can make him very tired, it doesn't currently affect his life. Many people are not so lucky and much research is needed into the causes and treatment of the many different types of blood cancers. We decided to be a part of Blood Cancer UK's Walk of Light and help raise awareness as well as funds. The date this year (29 March) is particularly meaningful to us as it would have been Sam's (Richard's sister) birthday. On the day, we are going to walk approximately 11 miles taking on the Chilterns Villages loop which goes through Amersham, Coleshill, Winchmore Hill, Penn Street and Little Missenden. We would love friends and family to join us for all or part of the walk (or just at the pubs!). Details will follow.
